Delete your dCipher account
You can delete your account and your data at any time. Play policy (May 2024) requires that this option be available on the web even if the app is not installed, so we describe both paths below.
Option A — In the app (fastest)
- Open dCipher on your phone.
- Sign in.
- Open the Settings tab.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
Your account, chat memberships, profile photo, and profile
details are purged from our backend immediately. Sign-in
credentials in Amazon Cognito are removed via
AdminDeleteUser. See our
Privacy Policy section 7.2 for details.
Option B — By email (if you can no longer access the app)
Email vikrambalaji2k@gmail.com from any account you control. Include:
- Your dCipher alias (for example,
@example_user). - Approximate date of signup, if you remember it.
- A short statement that you want your account deleted.
We will confirm your identity (usually with a one-time code sent as a push notification to your device, if it is still installed; or by asking a question only you would know from your account activity) and then delete the account within 30 days.
What is deleted
- Your Cognito sign-in record.
- Your user record, alias, phone (if provided), display name, and profile photo.
- Your chat memberships and blocks.
- Push notification tokens registered under your account.
What may persist and why
- Messages in a shared 1-on-1 chat also belong to the other participant. Those message records remain on their side of the chat until they also delete their account or that chat. This is called out in Privacy Policy section 7.2.
- Anonymous CloudWatch counters (event counts with no user identifier and no message content) may remain in aggregated metrics.
- Server logs, retained for 7 days, age out automatically.
